Event Platforms Are Finally Connected to the CRM. AI Still Can’t Personalize Anything With What’s Inside It.

Event organizers spent the past year wiring their platforms into the rest of the marketing stack, and in 2026 it shows. Forrester’s Q1 2026 survey of more than 400 B2B event decision-makers found that two thirds of organizations have now integrated their event platform with sales and marketing systems, a 44 percent increase from a year earlier. The payoff is real where the wiring goes deep: 62 percent of teams with full integration call themselves satisfied with their event technology, compared with 37 percent among teams that never connected the systems at all.

The payoff that integration was supposed to produce for attendees mostly hasn’t shown up. Despite the stack finally talking to itself, Forrester found fewer than 25 percent of organizers use AI to personalize what a person actually experiences at an event, things like session recommendations, matchmaking, or an agenda that adjusts to what someone clicked on during registration. That isn’t a new problem. Forrester flagged nearly the same ceiling in an earlier report, AI in Events: A Promise Waiting to Be Realized, which found about 59 percent of marketers using or planning to use AI for event content creation but only 25 percent applying it to pre-event tasks like venue selection, with AI-driven personalization and chatbots described as minimal. A year of stack integration did not move that number.

Event Budgets Are Rising Faster Than the Ability to Measure Them

Forrester’s 2026 survey also asked why, and most teams gave the same answer. Sixty three percent named data quality and accessibility as the main barrier to using AI at events, ahead of budget, staffing, or leadership buy-in. Connecting a CRM to an event platform moves data between two places; it does not deduplicate a contact record, fill in a session tag that was left blank, or reconcile a badge scan against a registration made under a different email address. Integration surfaced exactly how messy the underlying data already was, and that’s a slower fix than buying another layer of AI software.

The money isn’t the obstacle either. Vendelux’s 2026 B2B Events Survey of more than 120 marketing and events leaders found 80 percent of organizations are maintaining or growing their event sponsorships this year, a sign that budget confidence in the channel hasn’t cracked even as teams admit their AI ambitions have stalled. Whatever is holding personalization back, it isn’t a shrinking budget line.

Where better data handling is already in place, the result looks like what AI personalization is supposed to deliver. Bizzabo’s platform benchmarks put overall visit-to-registration conversion at 21.5 percent, but dynamic registration flows, the kind that recognize a returning contact and adjust the form accordingly, convert at 24.4 percent versus 11.6 percent for static ones. No AI model is required to more than double a conversion rate; clean, accessible data about who is registering already does it. For 2026 budgets, that’s the more useful lesson than shopping for another AI feature: fix what the feature would have to read from first.
