During PR Daily’s latest event celebrating the best in marketing and social media, it was impossible for those in attendance to avoid mentioning the New York Knicks, which had just won their first NBA championship in more than 50 years. The event, held at City Winery, took place just hours after the team’s victory parade nearby in Manhattan.
“This championship campaign literally rewrote the NBA books, and that’s because it was from sheer grit and deep team chemistry,” said Rachel Salis-Silverman, Ragan’s chief communications officer. “Now, am I talking about basketball still, or am I talking about you all in the room here — deep grit and deep chemistry, right?”
A common theme from winners was that regardless of how technology changes the ways people share and receive information, the fundamentals of effective communication remain the same.
“Just remember that you are humans talking to humans,” said Sydney Poulos, associate manager of content marketing at Compass Healthcare.
Other words of wisdom centered around being bold, remaining authentic and forging strong relationships with colleagues in other departments across the company.
When offering advice for producing content that resonates with audiences, Michael Lamp, chief digital and transformation officer at Hunter, posed it as question: “Would you read it?”
