Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium is a non-profit medical, dental, vision and mental health organization serving the residents of Southeast Alaska. In this new healthcare campaign from R&R partners, real SEARHC providers, not actors, describe how they deliver care that is rooted in cultural understanding and connection.

“The Southeast Alaskan story, and spirit, is unique,” said Theresa Menz, Associate Creative Director at R&R partners. “Telling the SEARHC story through the words of those creating and living it led to emotionally captivating content and created powerful, impactful and real results.”
In a category often dominated by polished, overly simplified narratives, R&R and SEARHC chose to lean into authenticity, telling real stories from the people who live and work across Southeast Alaska, where access to care is often shaped by the challenges of geography, weather, and distance.
“In a region like Southeast Alaska, credibility comes from authenticity, not polish,” said Leatha Merculieff, Senior Executive Vice President of SEARHC. “R&R Partners helped us embrace that by putting real voices and real experiences at the center of this campaign. The result is work that reflects not just the care we provide, but the community we’re proud to be part of.”

To effectively communicate the astonishing lengths an Alaskan healthcare provider will go to keep people healthy is no small task. To get there, the campaign walks the delicate line between documentary and advertising. Also, the use of black and white photography is another good decision. It evokes a seriousness worthy of the topic, while reminding us of an earlier time when neighborly trust and reliability were common.
