Associated Press reporters have been barred from the White House and Air Force One because the venerable media business refuses to change the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. On the other side of the Constitutional issue is The Washington Post, which is doing whatever it can to please the nation’s Supreme Ruler.
(Are you surprised? The newspaper is owned by billionaire tech bro, Jeff Bezos. And if we’ve learned anything at all during the making of Trump Two Point Oh, it’s who the sponsors are.)
Common Cause signed a $115,000 agreement with the Post to run an ad that would have covered the front and back pages of the newspaper. But the ad was ultimately rejected. No reason was provided, but Common Cause President Virginia Kase Solomón pointed to the Post’s decision not to make an endorsement in the 2024 presidential race and its decision not to run a cartoon showing caricatures of Bezos and others offering bags of money to a large, statuesque Trump figure.

On the Common Cause website, the group says, “We won’t let billionaires like Musk and Bezos silence the truth. If legacy media refuses to hold the powerful accountable, then we’ll do it ourselves—with your help. Together, we can succeed where others have failed, answer the call, and do what’s right – no matter who tries to stop us.”
In related news, The U.S. State Department has reportedly ordered its outposts around the world to cancel all subscriptions to news and media outlets that are “non-mission critical.”Â
The targeted sources of objective reality include The Economist, The New York Times, Politico, Bloomberg News, the Associated Press, and Reuters. The Post does not appear to be on the hit list at this time.
