This month, the 5W team had the incredible opportunity to attend CultureCon 2025, the ultimate gathering for Black creatives, culture-shifters, and changemakers. Held at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, this year’s theme, “Take Space: The New Frontier,” celebrated the brilliance, innovation, and impact of Black creativity across industries, from beauty and tech to storytelling, entrepreneurship, and beyond.

The event featured a diverse lineup of brand sponsors celebrating Black creativity. Chase Ink returned as the presenting sponsor, championing the entrepreneurial spirit. Other partners included entertainment, media, and lifestyle brands that brought immersive activations to life. For example, Dosso Beauty, transformed their space into a full braiding bar, offering quick protective styles all weekend with clinically tested, non-toxic, hypoallergenic braiding hair, creating an experience that was both interactive and restorative.

Throughout the weekend, panels explored how Black creators are reclaiming narratives, reshaping industries, and using both culture and technology as tools for empowerment. Below, we’re sharing three standout conversations we experienced firsthand on both the Culture and Creator Stages, each offering a distinct lens on where culture and creativity meet.

Claiming Space: Storytelling Across Beauty, Home, Travel & Beyond

This session brought together powerhouse editors and producers from across the beauty, home, and travel industries, including Olivia Hancock, Aliyah Rodriguez, and Kareema Bee, to discuss what it truly means to claim space in media.

The conversation centered on ownership: moving from being included to being in control of the stories that get told. Panelists emphasized that authentic representation isn’t simply about visibility; it’s about shaping narratives with integrity, creativity, and intention.

Panelists discussed ways to balance innovation with intentionality, using AI to streamline processes while keeping culture, emotion, and empathy at the heart of every idea. The resounding message: progress should never come at the cost of perspective.

Wolf explored what it means to build a brand that thrives on genuine connection rather than constant content output.

Drawing from her experience helping artists and entrepreneurs grow authentic communities, Wolf outlined her proven 30-day framework for cultivating brand resilience. The approach focuses on clarity, storytelling, and emotional resonance as key drivers of growth, beyond metrics or platform trends.
