Meta has added the ability to restrict words from AI-generated text in Meta ads…
When you create a new ad, there is a Branding section at the bottom of Identity.
This allows you to define how your brand is reflected in AI-generated enhancements. Examples include logo, font, colors, text tone, and visual style.
And now there’s a new one, “Restricted Words.”
Restricted Words
Here’s how Meta defines it:
Specify if there are certain words or phrases you don’t want to appear in AI generated text options and we’ll exclude them in Advantage+ Creative text generation.
Meta’s AI-generated text recommendations can be useful for generating more variations to help find the right audience for your ads (since in the era of Andromeda, targeting is in the ads now). But you need that text to retain your voice.
An example of a word I’ve added is “fluff,” which is often a sign of AI-generated text. Another candidate would be “unlock.” There are certainly others, but the main thing is to exclude words and phrases you’ve seen used in Meta’s AI-generated text options that you wouldn’t use yourself.
AI-Generated Imperfections
Even with the text tone prompt, I’m finding Meta’s AI-generated text isn’t as good as it could be. Despite the fact that Meta says it learns from your prior ads, it just doesn’t sound like me. While that could mean I need to do a better job of refining the text tone setting, controls like restricted words can only help.
