Consider sharing with your audience

Reading Time: 6 minutes

Guilty of posting a blog article and then never looking back?

Oof. You’re leaving so many juicy repurposing opportunities on the table.

When you’ve already put in the elbow grease to write an engaging blog post, don’t let that creative energy and time go to waste. You can spin it, pull from it, and repurpose it to create a full month’s worth of social media content.

(And other content types, too — like email newsletters or gated downloads, if you want.)

Let’s take a closer look at 11 practical ways you can repurpose your long-form blog content into 30 social media posts.

1. Repurpose the images from your blog content

If your blog has visuals, start there.

Pull graphics, charts, and screenshots and turn them into carousel posts or infographics.

Add text overlays with a quick takeaway. Or record talking head video content and use the image as the visual hook.

For example, if your blog included a workflow diagram, turn that into a short-form video walkthrough. Talk your audience through the process step by step.

2. Repurpose the bulleted lists from your blog content

Those bulleted lists you added to make your blog more skimmable? They’re perfect for carousels.

You can create a slide for each bullet, add a bold header and quick description, and you’re done!

You can also film a Reel with quick B-roll clips while you read each tip out loud. Then, add trending audio and on-screen text.

If you shared “5 reasons your emails aren’t converting,” for instance, turn each reason into a carousel slide. Make sure to also add an intro slide with your title and an outro slide with your contact details and a relevant call to action. (Like “Download my Email Content Conversion Course now”.)

3. Repurpose the tips from your popular blog posts into viral videos

Let’s talk tips — because tips = video gold.

Pull the tips from your blog content and rework them into a thought leadership script. Then record it as a talking head video. Use captions, hooks, and background music to boost watch time.

Or go cinematic.

Film yourself doing something related or casual while your voiceover explains each tip.

4. Turn your blog post titles into engaging hooks

Want a shortcut? Use your headline as inspiration for your opening or “hook”. Your headline already did its job once. Let it work again.

Just tweak it to make it more captivating.

“How to Write Evergreen Content” might turn into “Still writing content that dies in 24 hours? Do this instead,” for instance.

You can also pop your blog post headlines into ChatGPT for some social media hook ideas.

Here’s a ChatGPT prompt you can test: “Please get creative and spin the following blog post titles into a list of potential social media hook ideas for <AUDIENCE TYPE>” (Make sure to edit the hooks it generates so they sound true to your brand voice and tone before using them.)

5. Turn your blog post claims into poll or survey questions

Here’s another easy win … let your audience weigh in on your claims!

Take any bold claim from your blog and flip it into a question. Then, create an interactive post around it that invites your audience to answer it. You can do this with polls, sliders, or surveys.

For example, if your blog post claims …

“Short-form content outperforms long-form content on Instagram.”

Then you might ask …

Question: “Do you think long-form content has a place on Instagram?”

These work really well for engagement if you ask the right question and catch your audience when they’re online. You’ll also learn more about your target audience’s opinions, which is invaluable first-party data.

6. Turn case studies or stories into serialized posts

Sharing a customer story, a detailed case study, or a major client win on your blog?

Break it into parts and create a post series. These look great on LinkedIn, on Threads, or as Instagram Stories or carousels.

For example, you might turn a full case study into four individual posts like this:

  • Post 1: The problem.
  • Post 2: The process.
  • Post 3: The turning point.
  • Post 4: The outcome.

You can even tease part 1 in the series with a call to action (CTA) like “Want to see what happened next? Come back tomorrow to find out.”

7. Break down blog post ideas and then recombine into new angles

Every blog post is packed with ideas. You don’t need to repurpose the whole thing at once. Instead, take one small idea and give it a new twist.

Zoom in on a single tip, cross it with a trending topic, or remix it into something totally fresh.

Here are a few ways to do that:

➜ Quote someone and tie it to a current event.

For example, “This quote from X lines up perfectly with what’s happening in the news this week …”

➜ Want to go against the grain? Flip a tip on its head.

“Everyone says to post every day. Here’s why I don’t.”

➜ Or, stack insights from a few blog posts and package them into one spicy, bold post.

Try something like “5 myths I believed before growing to 10k newsletter subscribers.”

8. Share a hot take from the blog, then challenge the reader

Scroll through your blog content and look for a strong opinion. Something that might make people nod. (Or push back.)

Then turn that opinion into a short, punchy post. Make it clear. Make it confident.

Wrap it up with a question like “Agree or disagree?” and invite your audience to weigh in.

This quick content format sparks conversations and encourages reactions. It’s one of the fastest ways to boost engagement and attract a broader audience if you choose the right take!

(PS: If you put in the time and effort to create an insightful blog post, you should have plenty of hot takes you can turn into multiple social media posts.)

9. Highlight a surprising stat or data insight from the blog

Speaking of hot takes … let data do the talking. Find one stat or surprising data insight from your blog that stops the scroll. Put it on a graphic, add a simple breakdown in the caption, and follow up with a call to discuss it.

For example:

“65% of people say they trust newsletters more than social posts.”

➜ Caption: “Do you agree? Let’s talk about where real trust is built online.”

Numbers give your content authority. They also give people a reason to pause — and react.

But make sure you’re staying active in the comments. If your audience engages, treat it as a chance to listen and learn. Their responses are rich with first-party data. (Insights you can use to better understand what they care about and how they think.)

10. Repurpose your blog conclusion into a CTA post

If you end an article with a clear takeaway or next step, turn that into a standalone post.

For example, if your conclusion ends with …

“Consistency wins. Show up every week, even when it’s quiet.”

Then you might create a standalone post that says …

“If you post 4x a day for the next 90 days, you’ll be shocked at the results. The brands that win? They keep going and show up every day as often as possible. Even when no one’s watching.

➡️ Want to win, too? Download my 90-day posting challenge at the link in my bio now.”

It’s perfect for a launch post!

11. Turn each full blog post into a weekly or multi-part series

You can easily stretch a blog post across seven days’ worth of social media content (or more) if it’s packed with insights. Each technique, tip, or section you create can become its own standalone post.

If you choose to do this, add a short intro at the top so your audience knows it’s part of a series. Something like “Business Confessions from a Multi-Millionaire: Part 1” or “How to Become a Confident Leader: Part 3” to set the context.

To make this approach even more effective, maintain a consistent posting schedule. This keeps your series top-of-mind and helps your audience build on the insights they’ve already gained.

It’s also an opportunity to dig deeper into specific blog topics.

(One section of your blog might lead to multiple discussion points, so you can go beyond the surface level and show off your thought leadership expertise.)

➜ To make sure your posts stay cohesive and your audience can follow along easily, consider using a consistent visual theme or template across all parts of the series. Be sure to also add your contact info, social media handles, or logo in your visual content to keep it branded.

You can also pin the first post in the series on your profile to create a sense of continuity.

Wrap up

When you repurpose a blog post for social media, you’re turning a piece of high-quality content into an ongoing conversation that stays relevant long after it’s been published. (Phew, such a better use of your time.)
